Interrogator_Chaplain's Finished Dark Angels, Mechanicum and Others.

My oh my, guess we're starting this thing all over again eh?

Well, in case you're new to me, hi hello, I'm Ian, I'm painting and wargaming out of North Bay, long time fan of Dark Angels and a more recent fan of Mechanicum and Deathwatch. Painting wasn't always my favourite thing but it is definitely the biggest aspect of the hobby for me now. In case you missed my previous posts on Dark Shard, I'll be using this thread to post up my finished models that I paint. I'm not going to post WIP's unless someone specifically wants to know how I did something, as I keep a record of my progress for the Facebook group 1HourANight. (Great hobbying group.)

So, I'll start off this new thread by doing the post I would've posted on Darkshard had it not met its untimely demise (And taking down the points count I had painted for the year 2017, 4000+ points.) and post my year in hobbying in 28 projects and 77 models. (More photos of anything below can be provided upon request.)

First model of 2018 is in the bag! Got myself a shiny new Talonmaster for my Ravenwing detachment. I think that I'm finding myself less and less enthused to paint the Land Speeder models with every one I paint, at some point they just feel like you're slogging through the model. But, persevere and eventually you'll be rewarded. I've got 2 more Speeders, I'm pretty sure are hiding in my bitz box and I'll get to them eventually, as the idea of a Speeder squadron tickles me mightily.

Anyway, plan next is to dig into the holiday acquisitions, when the next update drops, you'll either be looking at a Redemptor Dreadnought or a Spartan assault tank, one of the two!

Here be pics!

Was just wondering what you all used to make the Talon Master in terms of kits?

Assume its not just the base Land Speeder kit.

As I have been meaning to get one made up but keep putting it off.

Also thanks for sharing the pics of your work; everything looks so sweet.

Giving me some motivation to get going on the hobbying I have been putting off; in order to get my army up and going.

@Wesley_B Thank you kindly for the kind words. For the Talonmaster, I used bits that come with the Dark Angels Battleforce, which was nothing but Ravenwing stuff and it came with this sprue with a whole bunch of extra Dark Angels specific bits, which include the radar array, the twin Heavy Bolters and Assault Cannons. I can't see the Battleforce on GW's website, but you can actually get that individual sprue here, hope this helps:

Hahaha, remember when I said you'd be seeing a Spartan or Redemptor Dread here, yeah, haha, me too. Those were good times.
- "So you mean to tell me you didn't do either of those things?"
Ha, nope.
- "So, what happened in between now and the last post?"

Specifically: "Finally, if you’ve already got a sizeable collection of  Forge World Legio Custodes, rules are on their way for you to use your favourite units in Warhammer 40,000, in addition to the huge range of new plastic kits."

That's what. Well, that kind of sold it for me. I had always planned on working on a small Custodes satellite force for my Mechanicum, but now with this book and those assurances I had to dig out an old project that I had started before but got bumped out of by the reveal of Primaris Marines, my Custodes Contemptor-Achillus Dreadnought. This model was fantastic, right up until I had to assemble the arms, and I am now realizing that two arms with more than 2 joints per arm working in tandem to hold a free-floating third object is a warning sign that bad times are about to be had. But I pulled through, and now my five Custodians have some serious back-up.

Before the photos... pitchforks down please, I will say that the next thing you see here will be either a Spartan or a Redemptor Dreadnought. For realz this time.

@Wesley_B@stankywizard Thank you both, much appreciated!

For real this time, I did it! Finished the Spartan, that I have dubbed 'Final Sanction' just before my week gets a little cluttered and hobby time becomes a question rather than a given. Really enjoyed getting this beast up to par, and really looking forward to getting it on the table and stuffing it with Deathwing Knights. Competitive? Eh, probably not, but it sure is gonna be a fun ride.

Next up, I'm looking at doing a deep dive into Custodes for a while, so expect to see more ostentatious (Some would also say extremely gaudy) gold and purple for a bit. I believe we'll be starting with the boss man himself, Trajaan Valoris.
